Warning to Advertisers

It has been brought to our attention that various groups are calling on businesses throughout the state falsely claiming to be, or to represent, the Utah Highway Patrol Association. It is disturbing to learn that, because of such misrepresentations, many businesses have given their financial support to these organizations.

The Utah Highway Patrol Association is more than 500 members strong and made up entirely of state troopers, state agents, and retired personnel of the Department of Public Safety. Utah State Troopers are proud members of the UHPA and serve our state’s citizens with integrity. Our goals, objectives and continued successes have been made possible only through the generosity and trust extended by our advertisers during the past thirteen years.

Our association raises funds through two programs: The Utah State Trooper magazine and membership dues. We do not operate a residential calling program or “night room” because our Board of Directors strongly believe we should not invade the privacy of even one home! While there are many other worthwhile and legitimate programs that are requesting your support and information, be advised that they are not affiliated in any way with the Utah Highway Patrol Association.

In order to combat this increasing problem, we have made our toll-free number at Utah Highway Patrol Association headquarters available as a ‘‘verification line.’’ If you have any suspicion or doubt as to the legitimacy of the person or organization soliciting your support, please do not hesitate to call.

Our association files an annual financial report with the Utah Department of Commerce, Division of Consumer Protection. We are a member of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. We appreciate your continued support, and are doing everything possible to ensure that your generosity and good will are not abused.

Phil Rawlinson
President, Utah Highway Patrol Association
